An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 shook Mexico on Friday.

The earthquake, with its epicenter just south of the coastal city of Acapulco, was initially reported to have caused no serious injuries or damage to buildings, though residents of the capital, Mexico City, also felt the tremors.

Several hours after the quake, it was announced that two people had died - a woman in a village near Acapulco and a person in Mexico City who fell during an evacuation.

According to Mexico's Seismological Institute, around 500 aftershocks were recorded.
