Two charged with murdering 75-year-old man found in burned-out car near Luleå

A man and a woman have been charged with murdering an elderly man in Luleå in December last year, the Swedish Prosecution Authority says.

The 75-year-old victim was found in a burnt-out car outside Luleå. Police had tried to contact the car’s owner for several days. It was only after a more thorough examination of the car that they found his remains.

The case stemmed from a deep-seated conflict between the victim and his tenants, the two defendants.

“This is a tragic story, a conflict that ultimately got completely out of hand,” senior prosecutor Joseph Ricken says in a press release.

The 60-year-old man and the 50-year-old woman are also charged with, among other things, aggravated trespassing and burglary. The woman denies all charges. The man admits that he moved and burned the deceased man’s body but denies any other crimes.
