Two people are being held after remains were found in a burned-out car outside Luleå. They are both being held on reasonable suspicion, the lower level of suspicion, according to a press release from the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

The crime is said to have been committed on the night of December 1.

A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s were arrested on suspicion of involvement. The man is being held for murder and aggravated assault, while the woman is being held for aggravated assault.

According to prosecutor Joseph Ricken, who is leading the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that it is the owner of the car whose remains police technicians found in the vehicle.

"The man's two tenants are being detained on reasonable suspicion. We now have a week to move forward with the investigation and reach probable cause. Otherwise, the suspects will be released," he says in the press release.
