The jury, which in addition to veteran Tony Irwing consisted of professional dancer Taya Shawki and artist Eric Saade, gave the most points to Carolina Klüft for her paso doble. However, when the audience also got to have their say, it was artist Theo Haraldsson who went through directly and avoided the subsequent duels.
I'm very grateful to everyone who voted for us, said Theo when it became clear that he had received the highest total score with his energetic commercial.
In the first duel, Mini Andén impressed, despite having a cracked rib, and took to the dance floor. However, in the duels, the jury does not award any points, and it was the popular Manoel Marques "Junior" Lerin that the audience wanted to send through. He will be joined by Carolina Klüft, who won the second duel against Isa Östling.
It was the sickest thing we've seen today, said Östling about her opponent's performance.
And the jury agreed, thinking that Klüft was far too good for program one. Klüft herself believes that she has much more to give.
We're stepping it up, this was just the first event in the heptathlon, she said.
In the three qualifying programs, three out of five participants go through. In addition, the jury gets to choose a finalist among the eliminated. When the live broadcasts begin, ten participants will remain.
In next week's qualifying competition, Tommy Myllymäki, Arantxa Álvarez, Rickard Olsson, Cecilia Frode, and David Lindgren will compete.
