The driver suddenly lost control of the minibus on the highway south of Johannesburg. At least twelve schoolchildren died when the minibus collided with a truck.

The accident occurred near the industrial town of Vanderbijlpark in South Africa.

Eleven schoolchildren are reported to have died at the scene, and another died in hospital, according to authorities.

Traffic accidents are common in South Africa, where roads are poorly maintained and speeding and reckless driving are widespread.
