TV4 is broadcasting the Olympic Games for the first time and is making a major investment in the Winter Games in Milano Cortina in February. ”We will create an Olympic Games pulse throughout the entire day” says Viveka Hansson, news and society director.

TV4 shares broadcasting rights with SVT and aims high.

"We combine sports journalism at the highest level with TV4's news competence, a comprehensive coverage that only we can offer," says the channel's sports director Johan Cederqvist in a press release.

The idea is that the daily broadcasts will be characterized by the Olympic Games. Nyhetsmorgon, Nyhetsdagen and Efter fem will broadcast from early morning and throughout the day.

"We will create an Olympic Games pulse throughout the day, in a joint coverage that has never been done before on TV. We will really capture this folk festival that the Olympic Games is," says Viveka Hansson.

The channel is investing in four studios on site: two for ice hockey in Milano, one for biathlon in Antholz and one for freestyle and snowboarding in Livigno.

TV4 will show biathlon, snowboarding, freestyle, skicross, women's curling, bobsleigh, luge, alpine skiing and will share broadcasts from ice hockey with SVT.

SVT will broadcast alpine skiing, figure skating, skeleton, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, nordic combined, short track, speed skating, men's and mixed curling, moguls.

The Olympic Games in Milano Cortina will take place from 6 to 22 February. The games are spread across several locations in the Italian Alps.

HBO Max will also broadcast the Olympic Games, but behind a paywall on their streaming service.
