"We have simply chosen the song that we think was best suited for the purpose," writes sports director Johan Cederqvist, according to TV4 Nyheterna.
Instead of Stenström's "Leva för alltid", which has been criticized by both supporters and reviewers, the channel chose the broadcaster's unofficial World Cup song, "Det ligger något i luften", which has not yet been released.
Johan Cederqvist says they wanted to create a feeling of a "summer folk festival", with the right tempo and football references.
