”The Mountain” was intended to become TV4's new major reality venture with the artist Petter as the host. The contestants were to climb a mountain in Norway, but the recording in August 2024 was interrupted already on the second day since a participant in their 50s died due to an illness.
TV4 decided to take a break, but the recording was never resumed and the series will not be broadcast, reveals Fredrik Arefalk.
The production had to be shut down, of course. So if you are to do it again, it's about taking new approaches and starting from scratch. And we do not have such plans at present, he says.
Fredrik Arefalk describes what happened as a painful story.
What happened has affected everyone who was involved in it in many ways and not least the family that was most affected. So we have difficulty finding any kind of positive energy around “The Mountain”. At least for now, says Arefalk, who emphasizes that the series may return at a later time.
