Karin Frick has barely had time to find the toilets at her new workplace. On Wednesday, the broadcasts of the Winter Olympics in Italy begin, an assignment she is now taking on.
"I'm looking forward to an Olympics where anything can happen. It's not predictable," says Frick.
She will share the broadcasts with SVT presenters André Pops and Yvette Hermundstad from the studio in Stockholm.
"It feels like the three of us have a really good dynamic. They're very humble. I think we're pretty similar in how we approach our roles," says Frick.
Recruited by SVT
This is not Frick's first assignment in the Olympics. She has previously been on site at both Paris 2024 and Pyeongchang 2018.
Frick was recruited by SVT from HBO Max, where her last broadcast was as a presenter for the Allsvenskan in November last year.
With her previous experience, she knows how to take on the role at SVT.
"I focus a lot on those in the studio, to make my experts feel safe. If the viewer feels that we enjoy each other and that there is a nice feeling and a good atmosphere, then you gain a lot from that," says Frick.
During this year's Winter Olympics, she hopes for many medals for Sweden, where the main focus is on hockey and skiing.
"The Olympic Games have set a goal of 15 medals. At the last Winter Olympics there were 18 medals. I think we have to settle somewhere in between then. Sad maybe, but 17."
Taking over the Champion of Champions
Frick will be the new host of Mästarnas mästare, which premieres in March. The role became vacant after Micke Leijnegard was convicted of sexual assault in the district court.
"Everything went very quickly. Then they called and asked if I wanted to host the Olympics and take on the Champion of Champions in the same conversation, more or less. So it was really fun. I'm passionate about the format."
