The American tennis association has asked broadcasting companies to censor any reactions against President Donald Trump ahead of Sunday evening's men's final in the US Open. This is reported by The Athletic.

According to a message that The Athletic refers to, Trump will be shown in pictures during ceremonies, when, among other things, the American national anthem will be performed, before the final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

"We ask all broadcasting companies to refrain from showing any disturbances or reactions to the president's presence," writes the American tennis association, USTA, according to The Athletic.

Donald Trump is invited by a sponsor and will watch the match from their loge.

We regularly ask broadcasting companies not to show disturbances that occur outside the court, says USTA's spokesperson Brendan McIntyre.

TV company ESPN does not want to comment on the information.

Donald Trump often visited the US Open, which is played in New York, before he became president and his company had its own loge at the time. During his last visit in 2015, when he was a presidential candidate, he was booed during the quarterfinal between Venus and Serena Williams.

That a sitting president visits the US Open is unusual and has not happened since 2000 when Bill Clinton was present, writes AP.
