Two Turkish courts have ordered the release of at least 107 students arrested in connection with the massive protests against the imprisonment of Istanbul's popular mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, according to an attorney for AFP.
Over 2,000 people, including more than 300 students, have been arrested in connection with the protests. Lawyers and politicians supporting Imamoglu have criticized the police brutality directed at students participating in the protests.
Imamoglu, widely seen as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's main challenger, was arrested for alleged corruption on March 19.
