This was announced by the Turkish Football Federation in a statement.
The 52-year-old Italian Montella became Turkey’s national team coach in the fall of 2023 and led the team to the quarter-finals of the European Championship the following year. However, at this summer’s World Cup, Turkey were eliminated in the group stage after losing to Australia and Paraguay and recording a narrow victory over the USA.
Turkey recently lost to France, Belgium and Italy twice in the opening round of the Nations League A.
Former Turkish star Arda Turan has already been mentioned as a potential replacement for Montella.
