Turkish experts on disaster response are traveling to Gaza to help with the search for remains of hostages.

According to a source within the Ministry of Defence, more than 80 Turkish personnel are in Gaza.

There are already 81 (Turkish) personnel from (disaster authority) Afad on site, says the source.

Formally, Afad is under the Turkish Ministry of the Interior.

One of the disaster groups will focus on searching for and finding remains.

Remains of 19 people who were taken as hostages or killed when terrorist-stamped Hamas and other Islamist groups in Gaza attacked Israel on October 7, 2023 are still missing.

Israel demands that all who were taken as hostages or killed be handed over to Israel as part of phase one of the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.
