In June, Turkey blocked around 40 accounts on X linked to LGBTQI organizations. According to the AFP news agency, a further number of accounts, with thousands of followers, have now been blocked on the platform in the country.

Among others, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly criticised the LGBTQI movement and described it as deviant.

Last year, more than 700 X accounts critical of the government were blocked at the request of Turkish authorities, according to AFP.
