A case of TB, tuberculosis, has been detected on Gotland. Now, around 60 people who have been in contact with the person are being urged to get tested, reports P4 Gotland.

The infected person's movements have been mapped, and based on that, people who may have been exposed have been selected, says Maria Amér, the region's infectious disease doctor, to the radio.

This 60 people have received a call to Visby hospital.

It is important to know that the risk of having been infected is quite low, but since it involves patients who have been in a healthcare environment, we want to ensure that no one has been infected.

Tuberculosis is one of the most widespread infectious diseases in the world. Previously, it was common even in Sweden, but nowadays few people are infected.

Today, TB is treated with antibiotics. A longer antibiotic treatment, but you cure the disease, says Maria Amér.
