Taiwan-based semiconductor giant TSMC increased revenue by 20 percent in the fourth quarter compared with the same period a year earlier. That was above analysts' expectations.

The semiconductor giant reported revenue of 1.05 trillion New Taiwan dollars, equivalent to around 300 billion Swedish kronor. According to a Bloomberg compilation, the expectation for revenue was around 1.02 trillion New Taiwan dollars.

TSMC is a supplier to Apple and Nvidia, among others, and is one of the most highly valued companies in the world.
