Sales growth this year is now estimated to be around 30 percent measured in US dollars, according to TSMC. The previous forecast was around 25 percent.

The forecast increase comes in connection with an interim report where TSMC reports an unexpectedly large profit increase of 61 percent – to 398.3 billion Taiwanese dollars (equivalent to 132 billion kronor) for the broken fiscal year's third quarter, ended in June.

TSMC is, among other things, a subcontractor to chip manufacturers such as Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices, whose demand for components currently exceeds production supply.

TSMC had prior to the report reported a sales increase of 39 percent during the quarter.
