They want it to be called the Trump Promenade,
the president in the Oval Office.
It will be beautiful, very beautiful.
The announcement comes on the same day that the Trump-ordered renovation of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool is reportedly complete - painted in the color "American flag blue" - and it will be filled with water again by Sunday at the latest.
In addition, Trump on Wednesday praised the martial arts cage currently being set up in the White House garden, ahead of a UFC match on his 80th birthday on June 14. On TikTok, he compared it to the Eiffel Tower in Paris and said - probably jokingly - that it may never be removed.
But other projects have run into problems. Plans for a new White House ballroom have been met with opposition, and last week a judge ruled that adding the president's own name to the Kennedy Center was illegal.
The future of the triumphal arch the president wants to see at Arlington National Cemetery is also being investigated. The federal agency that decides on the issue requested more information on Thursday in order to approve the project, writes AP.
At 76 meters, the arch is expected to be significantly taller than both the White House and the Lincoln Memorial and disrupt the view, which has led to protests, reports NPR, among others.
The arch is intended to stand in front of the bridge that leads over the Potomac River to the very spot where the new Trump Promenade is intended to end.
