Trump’s Hormuz tariff could cost up to $290 million per oil tanker

The calculation is based on the value of the cargo on board a fully loaded typical ship carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) and was made by the analysis company Kpler.

For a supertanker filled with crude oil, the duty would be even higher, at roughly $30 million (approximately SEK 290 million) per ship.

Trump's tariff demands still lack concrete details on who will pay, who will collect the money, or who will enforce collection of the fees.

Iran has previously offered passage through the strait for $1-2 million per ship during the Iran-Iraq War.
