Donald Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles makes undisguised comments about her boss and other people close to the president in a series of interviews that are attracting a lot of attention in Washington.

Wiles says, among other things, that the sober Trump has an "alcoholic personality," meaning that he believes that "there is nothing he can't handle."

She also describes Vice President JD Vance as a "conspiracy theorist," Tesla owner and former Trump associate Elon Musk as an "odd bird," and criticizes Attorney General Pam Bondi's handling of documents from the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

At the same time, she praises the president and several of his closest men.

The comments are published in an article in Vanity Fair based on several interviews that journalist Chris Whipple conducted with Wiles during the year.

Wiles describes the article, in a post on social media, as a "dishonest" representation as "important context" from the conversations has been omitted. However, she does not dismiss the quotes as false.
