US President Donald Trump claims that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is "not yet ready" to sign a peace proposal from the US aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump on Sunday expressed some dissatisfaction after representatives from the United States and Ukraine concluded three days of talks in Florida over the weekend.

The parties left the series of meetings without any clear breakthrough, although Zelenskyy subsequently expressed his support for further talks to achieve “lasting peace.”

Trump now claims that the Ukrainian president is not ready to accept the contents of the latest draft.

"Russia, I think, has no problem with it, but I'm not sure that's the case with Zelensky. His people love it, but he's not ready," Trump said.

I am a little disappointed that a few hours ago President Zelensky had not yet read the proposal.

An earlier draft peace plan had 28 points and was called by critics a Russian wish list. Most notably, Ukraine would effectively give up occupied territories and little else, as well as agree to limit its military capabilities and renounce future military alliances.

A new draft has since been produced following talks between the US and Ukraine. Much remains unknown, including the draft reportedly not mentioning how much defense Ukraine should be allowed to have.
