According to NBC News, the report concerns soldiers stationed in San Diego who are traveling by landing ship to the Middle East.
The soldiers were scheduled to serve in the vicinity of Iran, but the deployment is taking place earlier than planned, according to sources.
The announcement of the reinforcement came at the same time as President Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that the NATO defense alliance consists of cowards.
"Without the US, NATO is a paper tiger! They did not want to participate in the fight to stop a nuclear-armed Iran," Donald Trump wrote in a post, suggesting that the defense alliance has been cowards who do not assist the US and Israel in the ongoing war in the Middle East.
"Now that the battle is militarily won, with very little danger to them, they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but do not want to help open the Strait of Hormuz, a simple military maneuver that is the sole cause of high oil prices. So easy for them to do, with so little risk. Cowards, and we will remember!" the president wrote.
