Lance Schroyer, who was previously proposed for the post, is, among other things, a former police officer in the state of Oklahoma.
“Lance has first-hand experience in getting illegal immigrants off our streets and, like myself and our Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin, he loves the men and women of ICE,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform when he nominated Schroyer in June.
The White House gave no explanation for Thursday's decision.
