Trump welcomes moonwalkers after phone call with Putin

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday welcomed the four astronauts who had just orbited the Moon. At the same time, he took the opportunity to comment on a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump followed his usual practice and answered reporters' questions while the four astronauts stood behind him as a backdrop.

Mr. Trump said he had spoken to Putin on the phone and that it had been “a good conversation” about the Middle East and the war in Ukraine.

The Kremlin confirmed the conversation, saying that Putin had warned Mr. Trump of new military attacks on Iran and that he was ready to mediate.

Trump, for his part, had earlier in the day posted a picture of himself with a gun, with the comment that he was no longer Mr. Nice Guy.
