The incoming US President Donald Trump says it will be a "SEVENFOLD PRICE to pay in the Middle East" if the hostages being held in Gaza are not released before he takes office as president on January 20.
"Those responsible will be hit harder than anyone has been hit in the long and notorious history of the USA. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!", Trump writes on his platform Truth Social.
Trump does not provide further details about what he means by the warning.
During Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel last year, around 250 people were taken as hostages. Of these, around 100 are still being held in Gaza and among those remaining, approximately 30 are believed to have been killed, according to Israeli authorities.
