The USA's future president Donald Trump asks Judge Juan Merchan to postpone the verdict on his sentence in the trial concerning so-called hush money.
But Merchan rejects Trump's request and intends to announce the sentence on January 10, ten days before Trump is sworn in as president, reports NBC.
Trump's lawyers want to appeal the decision and, pending the verdict, the process should be postponed.
The future president also filed a lawsuit against Judge Merchan for exceeding his authority, according to a regional New York law, reports CNN.
Judge Merchan in New York's highest court had previously rejected a request to dismiss the case, in which Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying accounting records.
