The baseball icon Pete Rose passed away last autumn, 83 years old. Now, President Donald Trump wants to pardon Rose posthumously for tax crimes and for betting on his own matches.

In a post on his own platform Truth Social, Trump writes that Rose shouldn't have bet on his own matches, but that he only bet on his team winning. Furthermore, President Trump writes:

"Baseball, which is dying everywhere, should get off its fat, lazy butt and make sure Pete Rose, albeit too late, is inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame".

As a batter, Rose set a record for most hits in a career. Most of them came during nearly two decades with the Cincinnati Reds. In 1989, he was banned for life after it was revealed that he had engaged in extensive betting on his own matches.
