USA will do "everything possible" to prevent Israel from resuming the war if the parties succeed in reaching a ceasefire, promises President Donald Trump. Qatar's Prime Minister, who previously had an important role as mediator, travels to the ongoing negotiations in Egypt where Hamas is reported to make counter-demands on the proposed proposal.

When this agreement is finally in place, if it becomes clear, then we will do everything that is possible, we have significant power in terms of ensuring that everyone adheres to the agreement, said Trump at a press conference at the White House on Tuesday in connection with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit on Tuesday.

The statement came in response to a question about what guarantees the US has given to its Arab partners to prevent the resumption of fighting from the Israeli side in a situation where all hostages have been released.

International guarantees

At the same time, it is clear that Hamas demands that all Israeli forces be withdrawn in connection with the release of the last of the hostages, reports Al Jazeera on Tuesday evening, citing a high-ranking source within the terrorist-stamped movement. Hamas has also emphasized that it wants international guarantees that the ceasefire will be final.

Egypt announced late on Tuesday that Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin al-Thani will also join the meeting in the Egyptian tourist resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.

"Decisive moment"

The Prime Minister has previously been highly involved as a mediator in attempts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, but was significantly affected when Israel attacked targets in Qatar.

"The Prime Minister's participation in the meetings takes place at a decisive moment in the talks. (His) presence shows the mediators' conviction that an agreement can be reached that will put an end to the catastrophic war on the Gaza Strip", writes Egypt's Foreign Ministry on X.
