At 8:30 a.m. Swedish time, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would join Israel in the attack on Iran. In an eight-minute video on Truth Social, Trump described a “massive combat operation” aimed at crushing Iran militarily and appealed to the Iranian people to overthrow the regime and take control of their country.

In the video, Trump said the United States' goal is to protect the American people from “significant threats” posed by the Iranian regime, which he described as a “vicious group” of “very tough, terrible people.” He said Iran’s “terrorist regime” can never have nuclear weapons.

"I'll say it again - they can never have nuclear weapons," Trump said.

Trump said that the Iranian regime has been chanting "death to America" for 47 years and cited events such as the hostage-taking at the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.

There has been mass terror, and we will not tolerate it any longer.

Trump also said that Iranian missiles will be destroyed and that the country's navy will be "destroyed," calling the operation a "noble mission."

Trump also addressed Iran's regime, army, and police.

"Put down your weapons or die," he said.
