The British royal family confirms that Donald Trump and the US First Lady, Melania, will visit King Charles III and Queen Camilla in September. The visit, which is Trump's second state visit to the country – in 2019 he met Queen Elizabeth – will last for three days between September 17 and 19.
It was expected that the American president would visit the British royal couple. Already in April, Trump revealed to reporters that he expected to be invited to a large party in September.
American presidents are usually not offered a formal state visit during their second term, but instead are invited to lunch or tea with the monarch.
The British royal family also confirms that the state visit will take place at Windsor Castle and not Buckingham Palace, where renovation work is underway.
