It was just before the race started that Donald Trump did a lap of honour in the armoured security car “The Beast.” Also in the car was his wife, Melania Trump.
"I'm going to go a lot slower than the cars that are going to be behind. But we're going to have fun," Trump told Fox News just before the race started.
The race is called the Freedom 250 Grand Prix and is organised as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
"The president wanted to do this. He's a big fan," said Roger Penske, owner of the IndyCar series.
Felix Rosenqvist crashed towards the end and Marcus Ericsson finished fourth. American Kyle Kirkwood won.
"It's impossible to describe in words. It's a big moment, it was tough," Kirkwood says in Viaplay's broadcast.
