The US president has brought a number of top American executives with him on the presidential plane to China. Examples include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that he will ask Chinese leader Xi Jinping to "open up" China so that "these brilliant people can work their magic."
The Trump administration hopes, among other things, to establish a form of trade council with China with the aim of preventing a trade war between the countries, according to the AP.
The American delegation will land on Wednesday and the talks are scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
