USA recently agreed with Argentina on a support program worth 20 billion dollars to save the South American giant's economy. But USA's Donald Trump threatens to cut off the support if friend Javier Milei loses the upcoming midterm election.

With a chainsaw as a symbol, the sitting president Milei has cut wildly in Argentina's state expenditures. After the election victory in 2023, it was a success, but lately, it has been tougher and ahead of the midterm election in just under two weeks, both he and the Argentine economy are struggling against the wind.

An American support program worth 20 billion is intended to remedy the acute liquidity problems, but the money is conditional, warns Trump in connection with the allied Milei visiting the White House on Tuesday.

If he loses, we will not be generous to Argentina, says Trump.

I stand by his side because he has the right philosophy. He can win or lose - but I think he will win. If he wins, we will stand by his side - but if he does not, we will withdraw, he continues.
