Donald Trump threatens Canada with 100 percent tariffs if Canada enters into a trade deal with China.

"If Governor Carney thinks he's going to make Canada a 'drop-off port' for China to send goods and products to the United States, he's completely wrong. China will eat Canada alive," the US president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Earlier this week, Trump withdrew his invitation to Canada to join his "peace council" after Mark Carney - who is the prime minister - declared the death of the old, US-led world order in a notable speech in Davos.

Carney and Chinese leader Xi Jinping announced an agreement last week to lower tariffs to increase trade between the countries.
