In a post on Truth Social, Trump targeted European countries that he said were discussing an “imminent” imposition of taxes on American companies.
“Let this statement serve as a warning that any country that imposes such a tax will immediately face a 100 percent tariff on all goods,” Trump wrote.
Trump has repeatedly opposed foreign attempts to tax or regulate American tech giants.
According to Trump, the new tariff would replace existing trade agreements.
“If this is implemented, the EU will react quickly and decisively to defend its rights and regulatory autonomy,” said a spokesperson for the European Commission.
