"They gave us a gift and the gift arrived today. It was a very large gift, worth a huge amount of money," Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday, AP reports.

Pressed for details, Trump replied that the gift is "oil and gas related."

It was a very nice thing they did. But it showed that we are dealing with the right people.

Trump also said the United States is "negotiating right now" with Iran. According to the president, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are involved in the talks.

The statement comes after more than a day of unclear statements about alleged talks between Iran and the US about the war. Iran has denied, through various sources, that negotiations are taking place.

An Iranian source told CNN earlier Tuesday that messages had been "received through various intermediaries" to probe the terrain for a deal to end the war. The source described Iran as willing to "listen" if a settlement was deemed to preserve the country's "national interests."

Among other things, Iran must be ready to provide guarantees that the country will never develop nuclear weapons, but will only engage in peaceful nuclear technology. Any agreement must, according to the information, include lifting sanctions.
