Donald Trump did not specify where the attacks were carried out, but according to the Iranian state news agency Irna, the Iranian island of Qeshm was attacked with at least two missiles late Friday night, reports Al Jazeera.
Donald Trump described the attacks to reporters as “limited”.
Qeshm was also attacked earlier this week, together with a handful of other targets in the area around the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also described the attacks as minor and aimed at air defense installations.
The US government has repeatedly stated during the autumn that renewed attacks on Iran may begin after this week’s mid-term elections in the US.
From the Iranian side, the message is that the country’s military is on alert and is “stronger” now than when the war began in February.
Spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia claims that Iran's armed forces have learned from the war and now have "greater motivation, commitment and self-confidence" than at the beginning of the war, state-run Irna reports on Saturday night.
