In an interview with Reuters, Trump says Putin is ready to make peace, nearly four years after Russia invaded Ukraine.
"I think he's ready to make a deal, I think Ukraine is less ready to make a deal," Trump said.
When asked why the US-led negotiations between the two countries have not yet resulted in a peace agreement, Trump replied:
"Zelenskyy."
Trump further said he was prepared to meet the Ukrainian president at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week, but that there were no concrete plans for a meeting.
Zelenskyy has been clear that Ukraine will not agree to a peace agreement in which Russia gains control over areas it annexed during the war.
