Trump Rules Out Livestream of Nidal Hasan’s Execution Amid Backlash

US President Donald Trump says the execution of death row inmate Nidal Hasan will not be broadcast live.

Previously, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said in an interview that he wanted the execution of the former military officer, who is due to be executed in December, to be broadcast live.

Trump’s decision to execute Hasan was announced on the social media platform Truth Social and follows massive criticism from both Democrats and fellow Republicans. Even senior military officials have questioned the proposal to livestream Hasan’s execution.

Hasan’s execution is scheduled for December 3 at Fort Hood military base in Texas. It was there that Hasan - a 56-year-old former Army psychiatrist and major - shot and killed 13 people and wounded about 30 others in an attack in 2009.
