“The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks,” Trump writes in a post on Truth Social, partly in capital letters, adding that he “looks forward to hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Michel Aoun in the near future.”
The talks were previously scheduled to be held at the State Department, as with the first round, but were later moved to the White House, and it was announced that the envoys would be received by Trump upon arrival.
The ceasefire announcement comes amid reports that the Iranian-backed Hezbollah movement has fired several projectiles into northern Israel. Israeli attacks also continued Thursday against targets in Lebanon, and Lebanon accused Israel of war crimes just hours before the meeting began.
