Trump presented the Irish Open golf trophy in Doonbeg, Ireland, on Sunday. As so often in the past, he stole all the attention, this time from winner Shane Lowry.
"Everyone here has been on me. Can't you do us a favor, they say, would you consider lowering the tariffs on Irish whiskey?" Trump said, continuing to the cheers of the audience:
My answer is: On behalf of the United States, I am removing the tariffs.
Irish whiskey can thus avoid 10 percent tariffs, which have weighed on the drink's sales in the United States.
In April of this year, Trump removed import duties on Northern Irish whiskey, as well as Scotch, in honor of the British royal couple, who were visiting the United States.
