The President of the United States is reported to want to present the agreement during the night's speech in Congress. The agreement is, however, not yet signed and the sources warn that "the situation can change".
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj stated earlier on Tuesday that Ukraine is willing to sign the mineral agreement on Ukrainian natural resources in exchange for American protection.
"We see the agreement as a step towards greater security and more solid security guarantees," he wrote.
The two were supposed to have signed the agreement on Friday, but their chaotic meeting put a stop to the plans.
According to media reports, an agreement was ready on the table, but according to, among others, Financial Times, the agreement contained no explicit security guarantees.
Zelenskyj said over the weekend that it is now up to the American side whether there will be an agreement.
I believe that the USA wanted this agreement, we were not against it, he said.
