Donald Trump's inauguration of the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on June 24 marked the start of an event to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Ahead of the event, the trustees of Leonard Cohen's estate protested the planned performance of the song "Hallelujah." "This use is unauthorized, and the estate does not support or approve of this or any similar use," the trustees wrote on Instagram.

Despite the protest, the song was performed during the event, with bombers flying overhead before Donald Trump took the stage.
