This follows a dispute between the company and the Pentagon.

"The United States will never allow a left-wing, woke corporation to dictate how our powerful military fights and wins wars!" Trump writes in capital letters in a post on Truth Social.

"Therefore, I am instructing all federal agencies in the United States to immediately cease all use of Anthropic's technology. We don't need it, we don't want it, and we will not do business with them again!" the president continues.

He adds that the use of the company's services will be phased out over a six-month period.

The label as a risky supplier ("supply chain risk") may also mean that companies in the defense industry are prevented from entering into agreements with Anthropic.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has called for the military to be able to use Anthropic's AI technology without restrictions or ethical reservations. However, the company's CEO Dario Amodei said on Thursday that the company cannot "in good conscience" agree to such unrestricted access.

Dario Amodei is said to have set limits in talks with the Pentagon regarding secret mass surveillance and autonomous weapons systems.
