US President Donald Trump cannot let go of not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. "It is very embarrassing for Norway," Trump says in an interview with Fox News.

Trump has repeatedly said he should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his peacemaking efforts. When the subject comes up in the Fox News interview, he criticizes Norway and the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

"I don't know what Norway has to do with it, but that's where the committee is. A lot of them are Norwegians. And it's been a very big embarrassment to the country of Norway, whether they have anything to do with it or not - I think they do, they say they don't," Trump said.

The president claims that he has personally stopped eight wars and that he should “in theory” receive a Nobel Peace Prize for each conflict.

"I have saved millions of lives," Trump says.

The wars Trump is referring to include the conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and India and Pakistan. Critics have pointed out that several of the conflicts ended with ceasefires, not lasting peace, and some have quickly resumed.

This year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Venezuelan opposition politician María Corina Machado, has said she wants to share her prize with Trump. The two are expected to meet next week.
