In a post on his own Truth Social platform, Trump writes that Iran's air defenses, air force, navy and leadership "are gone."
"They want to talk. I said 'Too late!'" the US president writes.
Representatives of the Trump administration have offered partly different motives and goals for the newly started war. The president himself has given different versions of how willing he is to enter into talks: on Sunday he said that he had "agreed to talk" when Iranian government representatives allegedly asked for it.
Ali Larijani, head of Iran's Security Council and one of the country's top remaining leaders, denied that Iranian representatives had sought new talks. He also ruled out any form of negotiations.
