"The Iranian national soccer team is welcome at the World Cup, but I really don't think it's appropriate for them to be there, for their own lives and safety," Trump wrote.
Iran's Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali said the other day that the country cannot play in the World Cup, given the war in the Middle East.
"In light of the malicious actions taken against Iran, with two wars in eight or nine months and thousands of our citizens killed, we definitely have no opportunity to participate," he said.
