Before Blanche can take the job, he must be approved by the Senate, where Republicans hold a majority.
Blanche has faced fierce criticism from both Democrats and Republicans since he created a $1.8 billion fund to compensate Trump supporters who believe they have been wrongly investigated and prosecuted. Blanche previously said he would not move forward with the fund.
Blanche has served as attorney general since Trump fired Pam Bondi in April.
