USA's president Donald Trump and the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have signed an agreement on a "groundbreaking" technology partnership, they announce during Trump's visit to England.

The new technology agreement between the countries is intended to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and nuclear energy.

It is the largest investment package of its kind in British history, says Starmer at the Prime Minister's official country residence Chequers on Thursday.

American giants, including Microsoft and Blackstone, will invest 150 billion pounds (approximately 1.9 billion kronor) in the United Kingdom over several years.

Jobs, growth and opportunities are what I have promised working people, and that is exactly what this state visit delivers, says Starmer.

Donald Trump was welcomed to the Prime Minister's official country residence Chequers on Thursday. There he was received with, among other things, a ceremonial honor guard and bagpipe music – a tribute to President Trump's Scottish heritage.

The theme of the actual meeting between Trump and Starmer is, among other things, technology investments and steel tariffs, but they are also expected to talk about the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
