In connection with the White House's daily press conference on Wednesday, it emerged that Trump plans to discuss the US's withdrawal from NATO with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided a direct quote from the president that touched on the issue of NATO's role in defending the Strait of Hormuz. "They (NATO) have been tried and they have failed," Trump said, according to Leavitt.
Donald Trump has threatened to leave the NATO alliance several times before.
The meeting is scheduled to begin around 9:30 p.m. local time in Sweden.
